The Air Quality Index series are wearable artworks responding to the escalating wildfire seasons of the past three years. The vividly dyed textiles incorporate the warning colors of AQI maps--yellow, orange, red and purple--to reflect a search for safety in the face of increasingly unhealthy air quality.

The textiles pieces in our 'Air Quality Index' series are designed to be worn. The wearer of Air Quality Index (purple), which resembles a beekeeper's hood, can dimly see their surroundings through the translucent fabric and the hexagonal dyed patterns.
